About

The Data spAces for smaRt Energy (DARE) project aims to provide new, secure, and privacy preserving means for sharing data generated by IoT devices. DARE technology enables IoT device owners to share data generated by their devices with 3rd party service providers. DARE integrates novel data semantics interoperability technologies, and security and access control solutions.

DARE demonstrated the developed technologies through a smart energy management proof of concept. DARE allows selective sharing of data generated by IoT devices located in real smart buildings, enabling training of AI models for anomaly detection and energy forecasting, as well as real time monitoring of energy equipment of smart buildings.

The main building block of DARE is W3C's Verifiable Credentials and Decentralized Identifiers. DARE integrates these technologies into iSHARE framework in order to provide fine-grained access control. Data collected from IoT devices, is properly encoded using JSON-LD and it is provided through FIWARE orion context broker, using NSGI-LD API and BBS+ Signatures.
